Submissions
Author Guidelines
I. Maximum text size
Word counts exclude references. Articles and notes also include two abstracts of up to 270 words each.
II. Submission guide
Manuscripts may be submitted at any time. Texts should be sent as Word files, single-spaced and left-aligned, in Times New Roman 12 pt, on A4 pages with 3 cm side margins and 2.5 cm top and bottom margins.
During peer review, the text must be organised in four parts: title page, abstracts, body of the text and references, with tables, figures and footnotes placed in the text. After acceptance, tables, figures, captions and notes are moved to the end of the file.
II.1. Title page
The title must appear in the language of the manuscript and in English (manuscripts in English may also include a Hindi title), followed by the author(s) name(s) and institutional affiliation. The corresponding author must be indicated.
II.2. Abstracts and keywords
The abstract must be a single, clear paragraph of up to 270 words, presenting the focus, objectives, methods and main results of the work.
Up to five keywords, separated by semicolons, each starting with a capital letter (e.g. Education; Public policy; Memory; Identity; Brazil). Abstracts and keywords are required in the language of the manuscript and in English.
II.3. Body of the text and citations
Whenever possible, use the sections Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion and References. Section titles are in bold, with a capital only on the first letter.
Citations follow the author-date system:
- One author: Silva (2020) or (Silva, 2020: 14-20)
- Two authors: Silva & Costa (2021) or (Silva & Costa, 2021)
- Three or more: (Silva et al., 2022)
Expressions such as idem, ibidem and passim should not be used.
II.4. References
References are listed in alphabetical order:
- Journal article: Author(s). (Year). Title. Journal, volume: first-last pages.
- Book chapter: Author(s). (Year). Chapter title. In: Editor(s) (Ed.), Book title. Publisher, Place, pages.
- Book: Author(s). (Year). Book title. Publisher, Place.
- Thesis: Author. (Year). Title. (PhD Thesis). University, Place.
- Online publication: Author(s). (Year). Title. Available at: <URL>. Accessed on: date. DOI (if available).
II.5. Tables and figures
Tables use Times New Roman 11 pt. Tables and figures are numbered in order of citation and have self-explanatory captions beginning with "Table (number)" or "Fig. (number)".
Figures must be sent in JPEG or TIFF at 300 dpi, with a maximum size of 17 × 22 cm (portrait) or 22 × 17 cm (landscape). Images with insufficient resolution or illegible text will not be accepted.
II.6. Footnotes and acknowledgements
Footnotes are numbered sequentially, starting at 1, and should be kept to a minimum.
Acknowledgements are added only in the final version, after peer review, and are limited to 100 words.
